2009 was the 150th anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin’s “On the Origin of Species.”
During my life at Cambridge University in 2009, I learned that his life with his wife Emma Wedgwood was one of great love and sacrifice. How to celebrate this love through art, and how, at the same time, to express alarming environmental concerns (like man caused climate change) through art, became a central question in my work. I made 4 artist books and loose page collages with the images of imaginary garden plants for Mrs. Darwin’s garden.
The collages are made of cut up shapes of my own poured paintings, my drawings and images from fashion magazines.
