Nickolas Vander Loop

Nicholas Vander Loop was born in 1990 in Orlando, FL, went to high school in Pulaski, WI and is now working on his last semester in the University of Minnesota Twin Cities’ BFA program, majoring in art and focusing on painting. He is interested in nature, the exploration of new places and things, and the beauty that can be found in the real world. Through painting he explores reality, trying to capture the experience or character of a subject with a sort of subjective realism. His current work deals with the human condition by investigating certain individuals and attempting to communicate something of who these people truly are by combining paintings and audio recordings of them.

“By interning at Form and Content I hope to gain experience in art handling and the other behind-the-scenes aspects of a gallery. I especially like that Form and Content is an artist cooperative as I hope to someday become a part of a similar cooperative situation. I believe the art handling experience will help me to take better care of my own artwork and give me the ability to install and de-install my own artwork when I need to. To get a realistic look at the business aspect of the art world will be an invaluable experience as well.” --Nick Vander Loop
