LAUREN SUDBRINK

Lauren received her BFA in Photography from the University of Minnesota in 2009 and is currently pursuing her MFA at Ohio University. Her work explores a critique of the medium of photography, using the camera as a surgical tool to not only capture and reveal the human form as only the camera can see it, but also deconstruct and reconstruct the human figure, releasing and restructuring internal energies trapped within the body’s epidermal barriers. “I am interested in using traditional photographic methods to create non-existent forms, existing in non-existent spaces, releasing human energies that exist in reality but are un-seeable with the human eye. The camera is a medium tracing existence, or lack-there-of.”
“I am extremely passionate about community surrounding the arts. This internship with Form + Content is providing me with the opportunity to experience how a small collective community operates. I am looking forward to learning more about the internal processes behind the scenes of the gallery, as well as interacting with and assisting the members with their installations. I am also looking forward to expanding the social media presence of the gallery, combining the “analog” community with the digital community in order to further strengthen the bond between the community and the endeavors at Form+Content. It is thrilling to be learning from such brilliant and engaging artists.”
